David Choo, founder and current Chairman and Managing Director of PromiseLand Independent Pte Ltd, started the company in 1986. Backed by his wide experience as a Divisional Manager and Director of several companies, he steered the company to its current position as one of Singapore’s leading independent financial adviser firms. Promiseland Independent Pte Ltd is an independent financial adviser firm distributing unit trust (mutual funds) of almost all the fund managers, life insurance and general insurance products of the majority of insurance companies. It also handles group employee benefits and financial planning services.

David was a Sword of Honour during his National Service, a Public Administration medal winner while serving in Singapore’s Administrative Service and a Friend of Labour recipient.

He has wide-ranging experience in financial planning and life and general insurance for individuals and companies. He has also lectured insurance subjects at University, Associate and Diploma level at the Nanyang Technological University, the Associate Chartered Insurance Institute course (ACII) and Singapore College of Insurance respectively. He has also lectured Diploma in Financial Planning and Certified Financial Planning

A BBA (Hon) graduate, David is a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Fellow of Chartered Insurance Institute (FCII) and Certified Financial Planner (CFP). He has won both industry examination and essay competition awards.

David’s commitment to professionalism and raising the competency of IFAs is reflected in his company’s emphasis on comprehensive training and his active contribution in the area of association work and training for the industry at large. He contributes regularly to financial planning and financial magazines. He has conducted seminars in Singapore and the region.

David is the Immediate Past President of the Association of Financial Advisers of Singapore (AFAs).

He is married and has four sons.

His interests are reading, tennis, golf and deep-sea fishing. His primary ministry outside business is church leadership.
